Title of Program: Arts Entrepreneurship and Leadership

E-mail Address: apappas5@vols.utk.edu

Hometown: Knoxville, TN

Year: Sophomore

Anticipated Graduation Date: May 2024

Description of Program:
My program synthesizes the foundations of a Bachelor of Music degree with the curriculum of the Entrepreneurship and Leadership Studies minors. The music world is ever-evolving, and it is often difficult for musicians to keep up with and adapt to those changes. As a prior Vocal Performance major, I have a passion for classical art song and musical theatre repertoire, but also have a strong fascination with arts advocacy and how we as today's musicians can impact the industry we are working in. Music is an incredibly collaborative industry, and the limits to what can be accomplished are endless. Ultimately, I plan to learn how to create businesses that benefit musicians, while adding credibility to my career through performance opportunities.

Departmental Emphases: Vocal Music Performance, Music Theory, Business, Entrepreneurship, Educational Leadership Policy Studies

Plans After Graduation (career, graduate/professional school, etc.): After graduation, I plan to pursue a Master's Degree in Business Administration, and apply for numerous internships. Using my degrees, I would like to discover, or even create, a career for myself that incorporates both of my passions for music and business, and allows for creativity and leadership. There are a few focuses that my potential start-up could take, including but not limited to, advocating for the arts in schools and advocating for minorities in the arts.

Other Academic Interests: I am pursuing a minor in Leadership Studies through the
Honors Leadership Program, and am also studying the French language.

Research Experiences or Internships: Internship with The Empowered Musician (2021)

Part-time Employment; Hobbies; Campus Clubs/Activities: Founder and President of
Women of UT Music; Vice President of Programming and Enrichment for Alpha Omicron Pi, Omicron Chapter
