Title of Program

Human Factors Engineering

Description of Program

Human Factors Engineering (HFE) is the application of knowledge about human abilities, limitations, and characteristics to the design of tools, machines, and systems for safe, comfortable, and effective human use. As technology becomes increasingly complex, it is essential to ensure that these systems remain intuitive, accessible, and safe for people to interact with. From cars and medical devices to digital interfaces and space exploration systems, HFE plays a critical role in shaping user-centered designs that optimize performance and reduce risk.

This flexible program allows me to deepen my understanding of HFE and explore the many directions in which I can apply these skills. I’m excited to contribute to solving the challenges that modern technologies present by making them more human-friendly and effective.

Departmental Emphases

Psychology, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering

Anticipated Graduation Date

May 2028

Plans After Graduation

The dream is to apply Human Factors Engineering in NASA’s Artemis Project. These missions aim to establish a lunar base on the moon and launch to Mars from there. In order to achieve this, NASA will be designing the environment that astronauts will live in for the rest of their lives. This is a huge Human Factors problem that I would love to work on.

Other Academic Interests

Music, Space Exploration, and Theatre

Part-time Employment; Hobbies; Campus Clubs/Activities

I love to spend my spare time outdoors and climbing through  the climbing club here. I also work in SSTA on NASA’s Lunabotics competition, leading various projects. Also, whether I’m currently employed as a barista or not, I love to make people coffee and various drinks.
