Addiction remains one of the most challenging health issues in the United States, shaped by both neurobiological factors as well as social, cultural, and economic pressures. My program, Neuropsychopharmacology and Society, seeks to examine addiction across its entire spectrum, from the molecular level by which neurochemical interactions occur
to the societal conditions that influence patterns of substance use, treatment outcomes, and stigma. To achieve this, my program integrates coursework from neuroscience, psychology, chemistry, biochemistry, and public health, creating a framework for understanding how brain
function and societal structures interact in shaping addiction. By connecting scientific understanding and human experience, I hope to contribute to a deeper understanding of
addiction and its role in society
