Title of Program

Data Driven Political and Social Analytics

Hometown

Benton, TN

Description of Program

Data Driven Political and Social Analytics integrates data science, political science, and criminology to explore how technology and data can be used within the criminal justice system and the political world to reshape or create policies and improve outcomes in criminal sentencing, crime prevention, and public trust. By weaving these disciplines together, the skills needed to approach problems from multiple perspectives and develop solutions that are evidence-based, ethical, and legally sound will be gained, ultimately strengthening national security without hindering civil liberties.

Departmental Emphases

Data Science, Political Science, Sociology (Criminology)

Anticipated Graduation Date

May 2027

Plans After Graduation

I plan to pursue my master's degree while simultaneously working at a local police department within the intelligence unit to gain experience. Once I graduate with my master's degree, I will apply to bigger agencies, like the TBI or FBI, as an Intelligence Analyst.

Other Academic Interests

Forensics, Public Policy

Prior Enrollment at Other Colleges or Universities

Cleveland State Community College during high school for dual enrollment.

Part-time Employment; Hobbies; Campus Clubs/Activities

I enjoy playing musical instruments. People are surprised to learn I can play 6: piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, bass, and the harmonica. Along with playing music, I also enjoy reading thriller books. Stephen King is currently my favorite author. At UT, I am part of two clubs currently, including the Law and Politics club and the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T).
