Description of Program: My College Scholars program is designed to prepare me to operate my own production company in addition to learning the “art” of creating film.  Throughout my “Video production and Entrepreneurship” program, I plan to pursue studies that will help me become a skilled artisan in producing videos, telling stories, marketing businesses, branding professionals, and managing a production crew.  Entrepreneur and businesses courses focusing on start-ups, HR management, project management, and financial management will also be taken to help me operate a successful media company after graduation.

Faculty Mentor: Dr. Bill Larsen

Plans after graduation (career, graduate/professional school, etc.): Start a media production company that focuses on creating content for businesses and individuals to increase traffic to their website and social media platforms.  Because I love the academic environment, I will continue my education and obtain an M.F.A. degree with the goal to obtain a teaching position at a college or university.

Research Experiences or Internships: Planned: Summer 2019 – UT Dig in Jordan to produce a documentary on the history and culture of the Jordanian society through the eyes of the students – will be used for my senior project.

Part-time employment; Hobbies; Campus Clubs/Activities: I have owned and operated my own computer network component distribution business for over 20 years.

Hobbies: Hiking, Boating, Fishing…anything outdoors…Traveling and meeting new people…learning something new everyday.

Additional Information: I am a non-traditional student with a history of working in the IT industry. I was born in Buffalo, New York, lived and worked in New York City as a computer programmer analyst as well as Los Angeles before settling down in Knoxville in 2006 to raise my 2 children.  I love Knoxville!
